Cute!

What a fun way to learn Japanese! The app is great for beginners -- like me! =)

Waste of air

After half an hour of using this app, all I learned was really pointless pick up phrases that would not even be legit. Ie. you are cute, I like cute girls. See you later. It is too bad, they have a great setup with the characters in the background promoting the learning environment but he content was poor.

Great start for conversations

My Japanese is pretty weak, but this provides a quick way to learn new phrases to be used right away. I learned tenses to start, which was something I could use right away. Each "Chapter" is organized into a theme, like "At a Cafe", "Phone Conversation", or "At Home" with each chapter consisting of over 50 useful phrases to use. The good thing is that they provide example phrases to use, but are like a skeleton so once youve mastered more vocabulary, you can use that same sentence with new words. Overall, a great and an effective app to learn Japanese. Good for beginners, but for intermediate/advanced learners, it may be too simple.

Fail App - full of bugs

App response is painfully slow. Recorded voice sounds like taped on a cheap microphone. App humor will make you feel like pulling out your own teeth. Menu navigation fail.

excellent tool

This app is one of the finest around. The graphics make it enjoyable to play. And the learning style - generating random conversations, is so much more interesting to practice listening with.

one of the better study apps

Ive been practicing with this for a while now. I admit that without knowing some Japanese first, Im not sure I would have benefited much. Its more aimed at lower intermediate to practice listening skills, something I havent found anywhere else.

best out there

Ive got my iphone loaded with study apps. Everything from Anki to StickyStudy. This app is absolutely essential in my opinion. Theres no other way Ive found to practice listening AND have study progress for each phrase remembered. Including some lessons would help however. But aside from that, Ive been more than happy with StudyChat.

good for practice

This app is pretty much like flashcards, repeating conversations as needed. The app does better in that it tries to make "fluid" conversations from the flashcards. Overall I find it more interesting than straight flashcards for practicing my Japanese, so it gets my thumbs up.

YES!

This is so cool! Learning from anime characters! I just wish there were more lessons. It kind of jumps right in there with phrases and expressions to learn. Although I do like how we can switch between hiragana and romanji.

Irritating American accent (>人<;)

I find it hard to concentrate on anything else

Useless

For a start, the romaji is all wrong. Secondly, what is with that stupid American accent? Its so annoying. The graphics are hideously poor as well. Dont download this app, its utterly useless.

A Highly Recommended App for Japanese Language Students

This app is well designed, easy to use, and one that really deserves some recognition. This is great for beginner and intermediate Japanese language students. This can be used wonderfully to pick up Japanese that is spoken in normal conversation, to learn words & characters, and sentence structure. This is a great and intuitive app that I highly recommend. I also recommend to get the free version first to see what its like before buying the other conversations individually or in one package.

Excellent update

This latest update is just what this app needed to make it one of the best Japanese study apps. A lot more animations and help screens, additional beginner levels for basic adjectives and tense grammar. Everything Ive been waiting for. The improvements to the learning algorithm are welcome too, as I much prefer to spend more time repeating a phrase until it is learnt. I really cant say enough good things about it. Invaluable for beginners and advanced students alike.

Definitely a must for all Japanese learners

At last some beginning lessons! The app kind of jumped in at the lower-intermediate level otherwise, and assumed wed perused a basic Japanese textbook at least once before embarking on using this app. Very happy with the new graphics as well. I wouldnt run this on less than an iPhone 4, unless you turn off the background graphics, as they do take a fair bit of processing power with all the retina detail and all. This app is a must for all Japanese language learners and all those planning to actually go to Japan and make friends. I really recommend this in anyones arsenal of Japanese study tools.

Cant recommend this app enough

Ive been a StickyStudy fan for ages. I love kanji, and I think the iPhone is perfect for studying, far better than sitting in front of a computer. However StickyStudy only does kanji and some basic vocab. One needs phrases, and one needs to LISTEN to phrases to really survive when overseas. This app really covers phrases well. The way they are structured into conversation flows, and yet also randomised once they are learnt, keeps it real for me. Okay, the conversations dont always make perfect sense, but they are exceptional given the fact that phrases are still timed off spaced repetition. Seriously, no one studying Japanese should leave this out for a realistic take on Japanese language usage.

Great app

Please continue with apps, for it is very helpful and appreciated.

This app seems pretty cool

I like it already, wish they had a Korean version.

Odd app.

A great way to learn douche bag Japanese. I got a few laughs from it.

Do they talk or is it just words, no audio?

No audio?

Learning Japanese

Its nice a nice app but can certainly be built upon.
